Getting Started
About 30 volunteers are needed every Market Saturday to carry out a variety of critical duties that include vendor check-in, pavilion patrol, market information table, petsitting tent, market cafe, children and health events, and set-up and tear-down operations.
What happens once I join the volunteer database?
After you join the volunteer database, you’ll receive a weekly Call for Vols email every Tuesday and Thursday nights that lists the job slots and shifts available for the upcoming Saturday. If you can commit to volunteer that Saturday, “reply to” with your preferred duty and shift commitment. You’ll receive a confirmation email, as well as other detailed information to help you successfully fulfill your specific job responsibilities for that particular Saturday.
If you can’t volunteer that Saturday, no problem! Just ignore the email, and we’ll ring the cowbell for you the following week!
What if I’d Rather Volunteer on a Committee?
The market relies heavily on its numerous committees, planting them full of expert, dedicated, and hard-working volunteers. Committees include marketing, operations, vendors, entertainment, health and nutrition, fundraising, grant writing, and special events — just to name a few!
We recruit volunteers who are truly dedicated to furthering the cause of our worthwhile, nonprofit, community organization, and we thank you for your interest, participation, and assistance. We hope you’ll have as much fun in the process as we do!
If you’d like to explore whether the market has a committee that suits your interests, send an email to info@memphisfarmersmarket.org and include your areas of interest.
